Folks Flare hydration vest description mood — runner cinching the vest at a trailhead

Everything in reach. Nothing bouncing.

2 litres that ride like part of you.

The Folks Flare is a 220g running vest with height-adjustable sternum straps and dual soft-flask pockets, so your water rides tight to your chest instead of bouncing in your hand.

You're an hour in, the bottle in your hand has become the whole run, and your fingers are cramping around it. That's the moment this vest is built for.

Handhelds slosh. Waist belts ride up. A day-pack cooks your back. None of them keep water where you can actually reach it mid-stride.

The Flare wraps in close with two X-buckle sternum straps that slide up and down the rail, dialling a 68–125cm chest to a dead-still fit. A 3D-mesh chassis breathes and wicks; the main pocket swallows a 1.5L bladder while two stretch front pockets hold soft flasks and a big phone.

First long run, a day hike in the heat, or a dark morning on the road with cars about — it carries 2L hands-free, with reflective strips front and back and an emergency whistle built into the buckle so you're seen and heard.

Clip it on, forget it's there, go.

  • My last vest bounced so much I stopped using it. Took the Flare out for a 15k and completely forgot it was on — the straps pull it in tight and it just sits there. First one that's actually stayed put.

    Josh, Geelong VIC

  • Wore it on a hot day-hike up north with the bladder full and a flask up front. Plenty of water, my back stayed cooler than with my old pack, and nothing in my hands the whole way.

    Dave, Cairns QLD

  • I run before sunrise on roads with a bit of traffic. The reflective bits genuinely light up when a car comes past, and my phone fits the front pocket. Feel a lot safer with it on.

    Lauren, Ballarat VIC

The Flare difference

Built for the long run.

3D-mesh back panel for ventilation

3D-mesh chassis

Breathes so your back never cooks

The whole back panel is spacer mesh, not solid fabric, so air moves through instead of trapping heat. It wicks sweat on the climbs and dries fast after. At 220g, the loaded vest barely registers.

Soft flask and hydration hose — hands-free hydration

1.5L bladder + two soft flasks

2L of water, hands-free

The main pocket takes a 1.5L bladder with the hose clipped to your shoulder for sip-on-the-move drinking. Two stretch front pockets hold soft flasks you can pull and refill without stopping. Carry as much or as little as the route needs.

Reflective strips lit up front and back for night visibility

Reflective strips + built-in whistle

Seen front and back

Reflective hits on the chest and spine light up under headlights, front and back, for dark-morning and dusk runs. A green emergency whistle sits on the shoulder strap, always there. Be visible before you're audible.

Adjustable X-buckle sternum and side straps for a dialled-in fit

68–125cm, two adjustable straps

Locks to your torso

Two X-buckle sternum straps slide up and down the rail and cinch side to side, so the vest locks to your torso — no bounce, no chafe. Side straps trim the volume as the bladder empties. One adjustable size, men or women.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does this do?

It's a 220g running and hydration vest that carries up to 2L of water hands-free — a 1.5L bladder in the back plus two soft-flask front pockets — held tight to your body by adjustable sternum straps so it doesn't bounce.

Who is it for?

Runners, trail walkers and day hikers who want water and a few essentials on them without a bag in hand. One adjustable size fits a 68–125cm chest, men or women.

How much water and gear does it hold?

A 1.5L bladder in the main pocket, two soft flasks (or a big phone) in the front pockets, plus zip pockets for keys and snacks. Rated under 20L total — a light vest, not a backpack.

Will it bounce or chafe?

Two X-buckle sternum straps slide up and down and cinch side to side, and the side straps trim spare volume, so it locks to your torso. Fitted right, it stays still.

I've bought vests before that bounced — why is this different?

Most bounce because they can't be pulled in tight enough. The Flare has two independently adjustable sternum straps plus side straps, so you close the gap to your body. At 220g, fitted properly, it stays put — and if it doesn't work for you, send it back within 30 days.

Is it any good in the dark?

Reflective strips run front and back and light up under headlights, and there's an emergency whistle on the shoulder strap. Great for dark-morning and dusk runs. (Reflective only — it's not a light.)

How long does shipping take?

We offer free shipping within AU. Standard delivery takes 5–12 business days. You'll receive a tracking number via email once your order ships.

What if I'm not happy?

30-day money-back guarantee: return it within 30 days for a full refund. We don't offer free size exchanges, but since it's one adjustable size, sizing is rarely the issue.
